Burp!  Cows may feel better after they burp.  But farmers might not.

Farmers may have to pay a tax for cow burps.  The burps may make gases that cause harm.

Pray farmers and leaders will work together. They need good ideas to care for farmers, cows, other people, and the Earth.

Read More: Five million people and 10 million cattle live in New Zealand. Cattle burps make methane. Cattle urine makes nitrous oxide. Scientists fear that both gases warm the planet over time. The government suggests farmers pay a “greenhouse tax.”  That is a fee for letting those gases into the air. Many farmers say they cannot pay. They would have to sell their farms. Leaders say farmers could get the money back by charging more for beef. What is the best answer?

The Bible teaches, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:4)
