Will the monkeys have babies?  Did the tigers eat all their meat?  Is the stick insect too skinny?  The zoo wants to know!

Zoo workers weigh animals each year.  They check each one’s health.

Pray: Thank God for all the animals He has made. May He give zoo workers wisdom as they care for His creatures.

London Zoo in England has about 14,000 animals. Staff weighed them in August to make sure they are well. Each mammal, bird, reptile, fish, and invertebrate is checked. (An invertebrate has no backbone. Think of tarantulas and snails.) How do you get a tiger onto a scale? Lead it with a measuring stick that smells like curry. The animals’ weights go into a database. Zoos all over the world can see the results.

God gave people the job of caring for His creation. He called every animal He made “good.” (Genesis 1:20-26)
