What is in the sand?  It is a fossil!  It looks like a huge lizard.  The head is the size of 2 shoe boxes.  It had sharp fangs.

It lived in icy water long ago.

Pray: Thank God for fossils that teach us more about the past.

Would you swim in freezing swamps with this creature? It looked like a salamander. It was bigger than a person. It may have moved like an eel. Its head was the shape of a toilet seat. Most fossils like this are found in swamps in North America and Europe. This one was found in Namibia. Some people think that part of Africa used to have glaciers and ice. Giant salamander-like creatures may have lived in colder climates than scientists thought.

“God said, ‘Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures.’” (Genesis 1:20)
