Eat a cookie for your state.
Crunch into a pecan. Chew gooey peanut butter. This is a state cookie.

Trinity Presbyterian School is in Montgomery, Alabama. Fourth graders learned state symbols this year. Alabama did not have a state cookie. The students made about 24 recipes. Seniors voted on which was best. Mary Claire Cook’s Yellowhammer cookie won. It has pecans, peanuts, and oats. All those foods grow in Alabama. The cookie has the same name as the state bird. The seniors told state leaders about the treat. The leaders made a law. It is the state cookie!
