Find dirt plants love.
Drop a seed into the dirt. Up comes a plant. Not so fast. A plant may not grow.
Soil needs tiny critters to break down dead plant and animal life. That makes good dirt!
Pray: Thank God for giving each plant and tiny creature a helpful job to do.

You cannot garden with just any dirt. Sandy soil is loose. It can wash away. It does not hold much water. Clay soil is packed. Plants in clay do not suck up water well. Silt forms when water and ice wear rock away. The best soil has sand, clay, and silt. It also has dead plants and animals. Tiny insects and mites break down leaves. Worms and fungi break down dead animals. This releases nutrients like nitrogen and carbon. That is good for seeds!
“The Lord God planted a garden in Eden.” (Genesis 2:8)
