Mr. Y. helps people meet.  He makes buildings where folks share space.  He uses lots of glass.  People can see each other.  Students watch fire fighters train in his fire station.

He won a prize!

Pray: Thank God for buildings and spaces that help people connect.

Riken Yamamoto is an architect in Japan. He won the Pritzker Architecture Prize this year. He is 78. Mr. Yamamoto grew up in a house that connected work and family life. His mother’s business was out front. The living area was behind it. His buildings help people meet. Builders made one of his housing projects in 1991. All those living there can reach a central area with trees. The building he lives in has shops on the ground floor. It also has rooftop gardens neighbors share.

“Live in harmony with one another.” (Romans 12:16)
