This fire was started over 50 years ago. People thought it would burn the gas up. Now they call the blaze the “Gates of Hell.” The country’s president said in January that the burning gas is making people sick. He wants scientists to figure out how to put the fire out. Jesus told Peter in Matthew 16:18, “On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.”
