Mrs. Tubman helped slaves get to freedom.  She also helped in a war.  She was a spy.  She was a nurse.  People now call her General Tubman.

She lived her life to serve others.

Pray: Thank God for brave heroes of history.

Harriet Tubman is now a general in Maryland’s National Guard. She was the first woman to be in charge of a U.S. military action during war. She was a scout, spy, and nurse in the Union Army. She guided 150 black soldiers on a raid in the Civil War. Mrs. Tubman fled slavery in 1849. Then she helped with the Underground Railroad. It was a secret route of safe houses.
