What are those white bumps in the back yard?  Some people thought they were baseballs.  They are teeth.

They are from a mastodon (MA-stuh-don).  That creature looked like an elephant.  It had long tusks.

Pray: Thank God for fossils buried in yards.  Thank Him for what they teach us about history.

A husband and wife in New York were taking care of their yard in September. They spotted something poking through plants. Was it baseballs? They looked closer. Were those fossils? They took them to an archaeologist named Dr. Cory Harris. He thought the couple might have weird rocks. They had mastodon teeth! Researchers went digging. They found a complete mastodon jaw. They also found part of a rib and a toe bone. Mastodons were a lot like mammoths. They lived long ago.
