Young people helped others.
Salt water flooded Venice, Italy. Who would help clean up?
“This is our city,” said Laura Franco. Hundreds of young people went to work.
Salt eats away at things. The kids are called “Angels of the Salt.”
Some cleaned a music school. Some worked in shops. Others bagged trash.
READ MORE: The “Angels” were not yet born when the last big flood hit Venice. This one was nearly as bad as that had been. The young people pulled on their rubber boots and went into the city to help. Venice is built on 118 small islands in a lagoon along the Adriatic Sea. It is an old, old city filled with beautiful buildings that hold paintings and other art from long ago. The city’s young people show us what Luke 6:31 says. “As you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”
Lesson #8: Egg Tempera Painting. Nicoletto Semitecolo was an artist born in Venice, Italy, about 665 years ago. Egg tempera is a painting technique he used. The process to make egg tempera is not too difficult. Try these instructions: https://www.instructables.com/id/Egg-Tempera-Painting/. You will want to place your finished painting in the garage or out-of-the-way place while it dries, as it will smell. But the smell goes away after a few days.
