Jump to put out fires.
They stand at the edge of a plane door. They jump. Their parachutes (PEH-ruh-shoots) help them land safely. They are fire fighters.
Trucks can not reach some fires. People jump to fight blazes.
Pray: Thank God for brave people who fight fires. Pray people will be able to put out wildfires around the world.

British Columbia is the only province in Canada that uses smokejumpers to fight fires. Hundreds of wildfires blazed this year. Firefighters often need to battle flames in remote places. Helicopters cannot hold many people or supplies. Bigger planes can. Smokejumpers land and “starve” fires. They cut down trees and brush. They dig long trenches in the ground ahead of the fire. Once flames fizzle, smokejumpers mix dirt with ash to make sure all fires are out.
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)
